Due to treacherous conditions, we have decided that we need to postpone our annual walk until weather conditions improve. The staff and students are disappointed as our annual walk usually brings in enough food to fill about 70 Food Bank boxes. When we have new dates, we will send out a notice to inform our community. Thank you for your understanding.
During Monday’s assembly we had a very special guest. Kim Block, our secretary at BCSD/Outreach, read us her recently published book, ADVENTURES OF A STUTTERING SUPERHERO: ADVENTURE #1 INTERRUPT-ITIS. Jennifer Zuvic, BCSD head teacher, signed the story while Kim read.
“This empowering story talks about stuttering in a matter of fact tone with the goal to fostering understanding and acceptance for children who stutter. The art also purposefully includes many examples of diversity of abilities, nationality and cultural practices.”
South Slope student, Chanelle Z., will have her artwork on this year’s mayoral Christmas card! The mayor’s office sorted through 180 entries before choosing Chanelle’s gorgeous design. She was presented with a framed copy of her illustration and a variety of other gifts that featured her card design at a meeting on Monday evening at City Hall. She is pictured below with Mayor Corrigan. Congratulations, Chanelle!
